A the fox hunt with hounds can be carried out by a group of gunners - hunters. Only it`s necessary that all the riflemen are disciplined, well informed about the rules of this very type of hunt and follow unquestioning the orders of a foreman or a hunt instructor.

Under a big pack of hounds a fox usually goes out to open field or aspires to get into the hole.

Being under one union a fox goes not very fast, stops often, listens to the location of the dogs and starts to put out of the stride making rounds over thicket. At such hunt it runs into shot easily.

The best passages are the outing ones to the places of the connection of ravines into one channel either in forest or in fields.

Not a bad passage is a thick clearing where a fox without fail will pass twice being pursuaded and looking for a safe passage, and also short joinings between isles especially if there is a ditch (between them), a trench or a boundary between them which is overgrown with bush or weeds.

During hound hunt it is necessary to keep absolute silence: not to trumpet, not to run from place to place, not to call the dogs to the trace and not to smoke by no means as it is possible to confuse a fox from its going and it will go away straightly so far that dogs as they say will come off from hearing.

A fox is afraid extremely of a fresh man`s trace. Therefore at the passages it is necessary to stand as quiet as possible, not to leave unnecessary traces during running across tracing dogs because it hunters or spoils the hunt absolutely.

Have met a fresh man`s trace a fox makes a short turn. Being hot dogs sweep past the turning trace and they need to make a large round before they start chasing again. And the fox has time to go far from the dogs and to change the direction of its way in which it is waited for by the hunters.

A hunt with hounds begins yet on the black path since the day of permitting the fox hunt and continues till the time when deep snow makes a fox roam from forest regions to the steppe ones and it is difficult for dogs to chase on deep snow.
